As part of No Exit’s season of Surreality,  artists at the Praxis Fiber Workshop are presenting Un Endroit Surréaliste (A Textile Dreamscape). This tactile, encompassing environment has been created using fabric and textile materials that were fabricated entirely from community made projects at Praxis’ studio. The multifaceted immersive setting includes 1200 square feet of indigo dyed quilts which were made with the help of over 600 Cleveland residents. Un Endroit Surréaliste is an otherworldly environment that encourages viewers to look up and down, to touch, to stand and to sit. Contrasting the conventional gallery space where work is hung on the wall, Un Endroit Surréaliste is meant to awaken your senses, unlock the creative power of the unconscious mind, and transport you to a place that exists only in dreams. The installation will be open to the public starting on May 3 and will run through May 26.
