For John Cage
In observance of Morton Feldman’s 100th birthday, The Bennardo-Larson Duo will perform Feldman’s For John Cage, an iconic, evening length work indicative of Feldman’s late-period work, honoring one of the most storied artistic friendships in the NYC art music community. This expansive work, like many of Feldman’s later work, imitates the repetitive, hyper-focussed practices of Persian Rug makers – using a restricted collection of rhythms, pitches, and gestures, Feldman weaves a rich sonic tapestry, revealing a new stitch, turn, or eccentricity upon each performance.
