No Exit Winter 2019 String Quartet Series
No Exit is thrilled to be presenting their inaugural performance at Kent State University where they will give voice to a diverse and striking program of music for strings. Joining the ensemble will be special guest, acclaimed violin virtuosa Mari Sato. The program will feature two string quartets: John Luther Adam’s ethereal The Wind In High Places and the world premiere of Wearing Away, composed for No Exit by recent Baldwin Wallace graduate Nabil Abad. Also on the program is Andy Akiho’s dazzling and propulsive LIgNEouS I, written for string quartet and marimba, Krzysztof Penderecki’s vividly expressive String Trio and Alfred Schnittke’s haunting and transcendent Stille Musik for violin and cello. Don’t miss this phenomenal musical experience! Free and open to the public.
