No Exit’s Year of Surreality: The Unconscious with Zeitgeist at Cleveland State
Join No Exit and special guests, the incomparable Zeitgeist (http://www.zeitgeistnewmusic.org), for a presentation of newly created works which will delve into the unconscious mind through the exploration of the fantastical and irrational realm of desires, feelings and fears which inhabit our dreams.
No Exit has conjured three films, two of which, created by composers/filmmakers James Praznik and Luke Haaksma, will be accompanied by live music and a silent film by Timothy Beyer. Zeitgeist will be working with an array of multifaceted artists – Philip Blackburn (http://www.philipblackburn.com), Joe Horton (https://www.jjoehorton.com/about) and Kathy McTavish (https://mctavish.work) – to create an immersive multimedia experience.
As part of No Exit’s presentation of The Unconscious, artists Leila Khoury (https://leila-khoury.com) and Kristen Newell (https://www.postkristen.com) will be creating a 3-dimensional surrealist landscape at SPACES which will serve as an exhibit onto itself and as an environment for No Exit to perform in. The installation will be open to the public starting on November 10 and will run through December 15.
As always, No Exit’s concerts are free and open to the public. Adventurous listeners are welcome!
